13-Week Cash Flow Forecast Template
The 13-week rolling cash forecast structure, the assumptions worksheet, and the weekly routine that keeps it accurate.
The layout
Weeks 1–13 run across the top as columns. Rows group into cash in and cash out.
| Section | Lines |
|---|---|
| Cash in | Collections by major customer, other receipts |
| Cash out | Payroll, major vendors, rent, utilities, debt service, capex, taxes |
| Net flow | Cash in − cash out |
| Balance | Beginning balance + net flow |
Assumptions worksheet
For each major customer and vendor, capture: terms (Net 30/45/60), typical invoice amount, and actual payment behavior (on time, 15 days late, 45 days late). Forecast collections on actual behavior, not stated terms.
Build it in 7 steps
- Set your assumptions (collections, payments, payroll, fixed costs)
- Map cash in by week
- Map cash out by week
- Net flow = collections − payments
- Ending balance = beginning balance + net flow
- Find the shortfall weeks and plan the fix
- Update it every week
When a shortfall appears
- Accelerate collections (call customers, offer an early-pay discount)
- Defer or stage payments
- Draw on a line of credit
- Stretch vendor terms where you can
The weekly routine
Every Friday: replace the first weeks with actuals, refine the rest, and roll on Week 14. Fifteen minutes. Want it built on your numbers and maintained for you? Book an intro call.
